It is of interest to recall that the outbreak of coronavirus in Nigeria makes the Federal Government closes all schools on March 23rd, in a measures of curbing the fast spread of the deadly coronavirus pandemic . The close of schools occassioned by coronavirus is merely over five months now. 

In a bid of reopening of schools in the country, federal government reopened schools for exit classes, on August 4th, to write their certificate examinations, WAEC.


In the need and betterment of education of Nigerian students some of the state governors has announced date for schools resumption in this states. 

Babajide Sanwo-Olu the Governor of Lagos State was the first to announced date for schools reopening of Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Institutions.

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Dalta State has also announced date for universities, polytechnics, colleges to be reopened on 21st September.

Kogi State Governor has announced dates for tertiary institutions, secondary and primary schools to be reopened in the state.


Osun State Governor has reopened schools for both Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Institutions in the state.

Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi has announced Monday September 21 for resumption of Senior Secondary School II and Junior Secondary School II as well as primary six pupils in the state.

Akeredolu the Governor of Ondo State has given the date for reopening of tertiary institutions, secondary and primary schools in the state.


Kudos should be given to the state governors who has announced dates for school resumption in their state, their actions shows that they have the mind that Nigerian students should return to school.
