| Breaking: House Of Representatives Rejects Federal Government's Cancellation Of WAEC Exams |
The house disagreed over the alleged cancellation of the 2020 WASSCE that was said to be held soon by the Federal Government.
The House expressed surprise over a statement that was made by Adamu Adamu, who is the Minister of Education.
Adamu had said earlier this week that Nigerian students won't participate in this year's WAEC exams, die to the fears of exposing them to the Covid-19 infection.
The House which was speaking through it's Committee on basic education and services, released a press statement that was signed by it's Chairman, Honourable Professor Julius Ihonvbere on Friday 8th July, in Abuja, the lawmakers said that the Minister of Education, Adamu, didn't tell Nigerians if the decision to cancel the exam was in agreement with other West African Countries, or if they made a consultation with the country's examination bodies, state governments and other stakeholders in the education Sector.
The House of Representatives went on to call on the two ministers of education to immediately to set up a meeting with other stakeholders in the education sectors and the State Governments, so that they can decide how they will conduct the examination without troubles.
They further warned that failure to conduct the WAEC exams, will affect the growth of the country, and also spell doom for Nigerians.
