Good News 5 Things Candidates With Low 2021 JAMB Scores Need To Know For Admission

Lots of brouhahas have been circulating after the release of the Joints Admission Matriculation Board(Jamb) result, and it's crystal clear that most candidates are unable to acquire their desired result for their respective courses in our colleges, universities, polytechnics, and so on.

In this article, I will be talking about 5 things that aspirants with a low mark in Jamb need to know irrespective of their courses or their school of studies.

1. Jamb Cut-off mark: Firstly, it's no more news that there was a tremendous failure in this year J.A.M.B, leaving so many aspirants perplexed, but I want you all to know that since it's a massive failure, Jamb will make some amendments in their cutoff mark for each school, which may still allow you to gain admission with your low jamb result.

2. Catchment Area: This is extremely important for an aspirant especially if you are choosing a competitive school like; O.A.U, Unilorin, U.I, and so on.

A catchment area is an area that a particular school distributes a large portion of their admission quotas to for admission, e.g Unilorin's catchment area is Ilorin.

Solution: You can change your school to the one that has your place as it's the catchment area or changes your place of birth to the catchment area of your preferred school.

3. Changing of institution: You might as well try changing your school of choice to some other schools that accept low scores, like privately-owned universities, state universities, and polytechnics.

4. Pre-degree/Remedial program: These programs are not only for those with low grades but someone with high scores can also partake because it enhances your possibility of gaining admission into your school of choice.

And for those with low scores, it can help you secure admission to your preferred school of choice without stress, all you need to do is to apply for the program and pass the exam, with 180 above you can still be given your preferred course.

N.B: both Remedial/pre-degree are the same thing but it's being only called by a different name by different institutions e.g O.A.U's own is called Pre-degree while Unilorin's own is called remedial.

5. A-level: The A-level is an acronym for the advanced level program, which means with/without jamb result you can still gain admission into an advanced level of 200 level In your preferred schools.

It's a 6months to 1-year program which means you can still start now and gain admission into 200 level next year.

Some of the A-level exams we have in Nigeria are IJMB/JUPEB, NABTEB, Cambridge, SAT, and so on.

With all this information I've provided I hope you have learned one or two things you need as an aspirant that haven't given up on gaining admission this year because of low J.A.M.B results.
