2020 Admissions Processes To Be Done Online: All Jamb Candidates Should Take Note Of This (Opinion)

2020 Admissions Processes To Be Done Online: All Jamb Candidates Should Take Note Of This (Opinion)

Ever since the index case of the novel coronavirus was recorded in Nigeria in late February, President Muhammadu Buhari started taking precautionary measures to curb the spread of the virus in the country while ensuring the safety of the masses.

As part of those precautionary measures, President Muhammadu Buhari had imposed a compulsory lockdown of all schools and institutions in the country.

Since there is still a ban placed on all public gatherings, conducting admission by the physical appearance of students won't be possible.

If you can remember vividly, the Minister for Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu announced that admissions might commence in August. The minister made this revelation during the 2020 policy meeting on admissions.

With this, I think if admissions are to really commence in August, the admission processes should be done online whereby, students go to their preferred institution portal and create an account there.

Since we all know that JAMB offers qualified candidates admission, each student will have to wait for JAMB to offer them admission.

After they have been offered admission, the admitted candidates should go to the their preferred institution portal and create a profile on the institution portal.

If the institution wishes, they might conduct a short test for all admitted applicants on the portal whereby, all admitted applicants should take a 30 minutes objective questions just to test their memory.

So if they pass, they should be given their course of choice and for those who failed the test, their course of choice might be changed.

Doing this will serve as POST UTME for the students. So, to prevent the spread of the virus in the country by avoiding public gatherings, I think the admission processes for 2020 should be done online.
