On The 13th Of July 2020, All Universities, Polytechnics And Secondary Schools Should Reopen (View)

The Federal Government Of Nigeria previously suspended all religious activities, markets and some businesses within the country, including universities, polytechnics and secondary schools. This suspension was as a result of the recent pandemic disease that entered the country.

President Muhammadu Buhari who is the commander in chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, made a broadcast on the democracy day approving the ease of lock down. Before then, president Muhammad Buhari in conjunction with the federal government has vested powers on the state governments to decide when to lift lockdown in their various states. For instance, restrictions on churches and mosques have been lifted by the federal government yet some states like Lagos didn't agree to the decision of federal government due to the persistence increase in the number of affected persons in their state.

Looking at this, some state governors have decided when to reopen schools in their various states for instance, Oyo state.

Oyo state Government had earlier directed all terminal classes which include Primary Six, Junior Secondary School Three, and Senior Secondary School Three to resume on June 29 ahead of preparations for their various exams.

However, a statement was released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Seyi Makinde, Mr Taiwo Adisa, said Teachers will be the only ones to resume on Monday, June 29 while students in terminal classes will resume on July 6.

With this new system, Teachers are to resume on Monday June 29, 2020, while all students in Primary 6, JSS3 and SS3 will resume a week later on July 6, 2020.

It's quite known that the suspension of all universities, polytechnics and secondary schools was in order to control the spread of the disease within the country.

But looking at the present predicament of Nigerian students now, I'm of the view that all universities, polytechnics and secondary schools should reopen on 13th July 2020 because of this reasons:

If market centers can be opened, worship centers are now allowed to open, I see no reason for schools to remain closed.

Many finial year students we're about writing their semester exams before the heavy lockdown amid covid-19 hit the nation, and from calculations, if schools open on the 13th of July, Exams should be done by the 31st of July 2020, and hope fully a new semester starts before November.

We all know students can be guided to obey covid-19 rules perfectly, and right now a lot of students are loosing it.

Some are beginning to gradually forget their course of study.

All this are my view on what I think about Universities, polytechnics and secondary schools re-opening on the 13th of July 2020.
